Final Chapter
Tuesday, 02 October 2007

Well, I think that I am completely done with my journey now, or are we ever done...Journies are always ongoing, right... well this part of my journey has ended....I had a complete hysterectomy on June 22, 2007. That was done to eliminate my risk of getting ovarian cancer since the tests show that I carry the cancer gene... I don't "own"  the fact that they say I carry the gene tho... I am healthy and cancer free... I still have a lot of mental healing to do. I am not satisfied with my body image, but I am alive and here for my children and family so that is what matters, right? My hair is growing out pretty well now. It came back naturally curly and it looks pretty good. It is a little longer than the length that is in my picture here. This is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I wish that it wasn't just one month a year, because it needs to be addressed all the time so that people remember to get checked all the time.  I am not walking in the Making Strides Walk this year, but my kids are with my neighbors. I am taking a trip for the weekend with my husband for an anniversary trip (9 years). He is a wonderful man, in case I haven't mentioned that before. He is a very important part of my life, along with my children. Well, I guess this is it. I just would like to thank all of my friends and family again for all the support and love that they have shown me throughout all of this ordeal.... Thanks to this site, also for giving us an opportunity to write our stories out.... take care to all... Blessings, Alicia
