What a weekend! My chorus competed at our Harmony, Incorporated Area 2 contest this past weekend and it was outstanding! First of all I am so proud of Sounds of the Seacoast!!! Not only did they qualified to go to International, but they also scored 117 points higher this year than last year AND they came in FOURTH! We were screaming and jumping up and down and crying and laughing and celebrating big time! I am SO proud of all of them for working so hard and for putting so much faith and confidence in themselves (and in me).
YOU LADIES KICK ASS!!!
With that said, our motto was "kick ass" and as you'll see from the photos below, my daughter painted that on my head before contest. Bernice also made butt shaped felt pins with "KA" on them and we all wore them on the inside of our jackets. And God bless the woman in my chorus because they also wore pink breast cancer ribbons all weekend to support me and where I am right now. I just couldn't be prouder of this group of ladies.
It was a very fulfilling weekend as well. The support for me at contest and where I am in life right now was overwhelming. People brought me cards and gifts and when the chorus got done singing, folks started calling out "we love you Wendy" and then "we love you too" ... it was just incredible (I’m getting choked up thinking about it). And when my president and I got up on stage to accept our qualifying ribbon, some close friends yelled out "what's under your hat Wendy!" so I took off my hat so all could see my head and my message and everyone started laughing and clapping. :>)
Thank you Harmony, Inc. and everyone who has been so so supportive - I have to be one of the luckiest women in the world!

My chorus, Sounds of the Seacoast. This was the first contest as their director.

My daughter, Brittany's, artwork. Thanks Hon! I love you!

My wonderful husband, Kevin. Love you baby!

Brittany and my niece, Julia. The theme of the contest was "The Mad Hatter" ... how appropriate for me ... and this was the girl's way of celebrating.

My quartet, Limited Edition, sang a few songs during the banquet Saturday night. How fun it was to be together again! Love you guys!

I had to look away ... Linda gets a little nutty at his point and it makes me laugh too hard.

Kevin and Ryan yucking it up.
