4: Surgery

10/26/05- Crazy snowstorm in Bristol, school is cancelled.  I have my pre-op visit at the hospital.

10/27/05- I have to check in at 7:45am.  I have the sential node biopsy.  It’s uncomfortable but doesn’t really hurt.  When I go back to my room to wait for surgery they give me Valium.  I think it’s not doing anything until I try to get up to go to the bathroom.  I feel drunk.  I like it.  I go in for the lumpectomy.  The room is cold, I wake up in recovery and I am still cold.  The sential node was positive for cancer so they did the axillery dissection. I give my mom the ok to call some family members and my friends who are out of state.  Everyone wants to know why I didn’t tell them. I stay overnight in the hospital.
