5: Post-Surgery

10/28/05- I go home and the phone doesn’t stop ringing.  I’m overwhelmed. They’ve put a drain, which has tubes coming out of my right side.  It’s painful.

10/31/05- I go back to see Dr. Fuller, he takes out one tube. I return to work.

11/7/05- I go back to the nurse practitioner to talk about another form of birth control.  I get the diaphragm.  I am the only person I know with a diaphragm.

11/9/05- I finally get the drain out.  It’s such a relief.  I’ve been to see Dr. Fuller so many times I notice he has gotten a hair cut.

11/14/05- I go to a plastic surgeon, in case I decide to have a mastectomy and reconstruction.  I want to know all of my options.

11/16/05- I meet with Dr. Unger the oncologist for the first time.  He tells me more options.

11/22/05- I meet with the radiology oncologist, she doesn’t think I need a mastectomy, but she recommends radiation after the chemotherapy.

11/26/05- I move into my new apartment.

11/30/05- I have a MRI. It comes back clean.  I don’t have any tumors on either side, more good news!

12/23/05- Brandie cuts my hair shorter in anticipation of losing my hair with the chemo.  It is the shortest I have ever had.  I like it though!
