I'M DONE I'M DONE I'M DONE!!!
I am just elated ... not sure I can truly express how I'm feeling today! My last treatment was yesterday and although it took a lot longer because they were very busy, all went smoothly and I actually left there feeling pretty god!
Kevin was out of town so my friend Debbie Lynn came with me to keep me company. I really wanted her to be able to see what it was like since she'll be embarking on this journey herself very soon ... I think it helped. We arrived at 10:15 and didn't leave until close to 4. It was the typical routine: arrive, wait, get weighed (we hate that), wait, see the doctor, wait, get plugged in, wait. It was so funny when the doctor came in because I flashed him a giant smile and said, "it's my last day!" He looked at me very seriously and said, "didn't I tell you about the additional 5 treatments we're going to have to do?" I looked at him square in the eye and said, "screw you!" Still can't believe I did that but we all laughed right out loud so obviously his sense of humor is in tact.

Me and Deb getting ready to leave! Big smiles and lots of relief!
(see Mom's balloon?)

I'm a peach!!! Look how much hair is coming back! I actually went shopping when I got home and decided to not wear the hat ... it felt so liberating! I've decided to only wear it when going to business meetings and the like. Why not ... who cares!
Deb and I played cribbage and ate cookies during the treatment. Mom arrived part way through and brought me a wonderful Mickey Mouse balloon that said, "YOU DID IT" on it! And when I was done, the staff came in, gave me this beautiful angel in glass and a card that they all signed. What a day ... what a feeling! When I got home my dear friend Cheryl came over to keep me company. We hung out on the deck and talked and sang and had a great visit! Warning to anyone going through this: no matter how good you feel the day of your treatment, don't have a celebratory drink -- you'll pay for it the next day! ;>)
I go back in two weeks for blood work and a check up and then I'll start radiation sometime mid-July. I probably won't write quite as much over the next few weeks but will definitely be adding to my journal in the future so stay tuned!
Thank you ALL for being so loving and supportive throughout this adventure! I never could have done it without you!!!
