3: Finally Some Words of Relief
November 8, 2004

I was seen at the docs office today to have my dressings removed. Two of my three drains were also removed. That wasn't a fun time, but there was a brighter side to the appointment. I was told that the pathology report was back and my cancer had not spread to my lymph nodes and that my cancer was considered stage one. I was also told that my genes would be receptive to Tamoxifen. All great news. Felt more emotional hearing this great news than when I was told I had the cancer. I guess it pays to be ready for the worst. I'm still waiting for the results of the BRCA1 & BRCA2 genetic testing. Maybe I'll get the results on Friday when I go to have the stitches out, and hopefully the third and last drain removed. My goal for the week, to be able to have our usual Friday night "date night" at Giorgio's Restaurant.

My family, friends and co-worker have been so supportive through this whole ordeal. I believe you don't know what you mean to people until something tragic happens. To my sister Debbie, daughter & son, Jamie and Cory, and to my fiancé John, thank you so much for being there for me. Your love and support are definitely what's keeping me strong. And to my friends at NPD, thanks for the support, meals on wheels, well wishes and warm thoughts. You truly find out who your friends are in time of need.
