I was scheduled for chemo #2 today, but because my counts did not rebound enough by yesterday, my doctor wants to wait. He’ll see me tomorrow, and then can decide when my next treatment will be - hopefully on Friday.

I met with Dr. Reid and had my blood drawn one more time to make sure I’d be ok for treatment tomorrow. My counts rebounded just fine. The white count was 3.9, the GR# was 2.5 (whew!). He told me then, that I could have had treatment yesterday, but he wanted to see me personally, and talk to me about an option to help with my white count. There’s a relatively new shot called Neulasta, which boosts your white count, by stimulating your bone marrow to make more white blood cells. He wants me to have this shot to prevent the severe dip in my counts from the first cycle. He would have prescribed it the first cycle, but he wanted to see how my body reacted on its own. Obviously, it didn’t do so well, so now I need the shot! It has to be administered at least 24 hours after treatment. Since my treatment is on Friday, I won't get the shot until Monday.
