24: Post-surgery Mammogram |
|
December 12, 2003
Today I had my post-surgery mammogram. Originally, I wasn't going to have this until next spring, when they removed my catheter. But because the catheter has already been removed, my surgeon wanted me to have a mammogram now rather than wait. I had a biopsy on the right breast in the summer of 2002, and the follow-up mammogram for that was in October, 2002 - so it's been over a year since they've seen pictures of that side. I was expecting to hear good news since all my test results (MRI and PET scan and tumor marker tests) came back negative. But it was still nice to hear the words "all clear!" YAY!!!! Normally, they have to take additional pictures, and they always come back and say "we need to see you again in 6 months...." but they just said everything looked good! WHEW!!!! I'm sure I'll have to go back post-radiation next spring....but that's ok!!! And I'm sure they'll keep watching me every few months anyway....and THAT'S ok too! :-)
