26: Things are Predictable

December 24, 2003

I haven't added any updates lately as things have pretty much continued on a predictable basis. I had my $6000 Neulasta shot last week and as of Monday this week, it hadn't kicked in because my counts were borderline low on Monday. The GR# was 1.7. It should be back up now and next week when I'm checked again. I've been experiencing slightly stronger symptoms this cycle. The nausea is a little bit worse, although I've not been "sick" yet! I'm feeling more tired and a part of that I'm sure is the cold I'm fighting. Just generally feeling kinda blah! My mouth of course feels funny and coated, and foods taste different, but that's all to be expected. Luckily, no canker sores this round - yet! I see Dr. Reid the day after Christmas for my checkup and then my next chemo (1st Taxol treatment) is scheduled for January 5, 2004.

The exciting news is that my performances all last week (3 in one day - the day AFTER chemo) all went off without a hitch....the day after chemo has held to be a pretty good day for me each time, thankfully. But the REALLY exciting news is that at one of our gigs, we sang for the First Lady and met the President!!!!! He shook hands with several chorus members (not me!), but I did touch him! We also had an official White House photograph taken with both the President and the First Lady. We were singing at the Blair House across the street from the White House, for the Diplomatic Reception. The President made a surprise appearance! What a treat!

And on that happy note, I will end this by wishing a Happy Holiday to all!
