Taxol treatment number 2 is history!!! Only two more treatments and I'm done!! :-) Today's treatment was fairly uneventful and went very predictably. They started with Benadryl and Anzemet. The Benedryl made me very sleepy! It prevents an allergic reaction to the Taxol. The Anzemet is an anti-nausea drug. I had no reaction to the taxol and I haven't felt sick yet! The Taxol took a little over two hours to drip - it was supposed to take 3! But there were not adverse affects.
I had a little problem with some swelling in my ankles the last two days. The nurses attribute it to either not enough fluids....or that combined with not enough activity. This would make sense because I basically sat around my cousin's house without much to do. The swelling is almost gone today, now that I'm able to resume normal activities. I was finally able to come home yesterday. Someone drove me 2 hours north to Charlotte so I could get a flight out of a major airport. It's a good thing, because when I got home, I checked the Greenville airport website and all flights to Washington were indeed cancelled again! The late evening flight did finally take off, but by leaving Charlotte in the morning, I was able to put in almost a full day of work. I think all the walking at the airport and walking to my office from my car, helped move the fluid out of my ankles.
I'm leaving for a short 2 day ski trip at Wisp tomorrow. Hopefully, because I’ll be skiing so close to the treatment, the muscle aches and joint pain won't set in until after I'm done skiing! I have to get my $6000 shot first though, and then head to the slopes!! Until next time!
