12: Post Chemo Update #2

2/13/06- Happy Birthday Dad!!  This past week was a good week.  I didn’t have any doctor’s appointments, no blood tests, the funky rash around my port is good, and my cold, which started after the first chemo, is down to just a runny nose.  Weeks like this make me feel almost normal.  My head is cold though!!  I don’t see how Nortie always shaves his head.  I even need to wear a hat to bed.  Travis calls me his Eskimo girlfriend. Thank you so much to everyone who has given me hats.  I love them all.  I try to wear a different hat everyday to school.   I got my wig last Tuesday, it looks all right.  I haven’t actually worn it yet.  I think that I will tomorrow.  I am still tired all of the time, and going to bed really early.  If I stay awake until 10, it is a real late night.  We are hoping to move this coming weekend, and I have vacation next week.  Vacation and no chemo, it has to be a good week!

When I came to school last Monday, the kids were all asking why I had shaved my head.  I explained to them that I was sick and the medicine that I had to take made my hair fall out, therefore I shaved it.  One all knowing 4th grader said, “you mean like chemotherapy?”  “Yes, something like chemotherapy…” Two girls in my class told me that I looked beautiful with a shaved head, even better than I did with hair.  I’m not sure how I feel about that, I liked my hair.

Travis and Nortie’s hair is beginning to grow back and mine is falling out more.  Sometimes when I get out of the shower, (very quick showers, nothing to do) the bottom of the tub is full of little hairs, kind of like when Travis shaves in the sink and doesn’t rinse it out.  However I still have to shave my legs, why isn’t that falling out?

I hope everyone is doing well, thanks for the emails and cards, I love receiving them. Happy Valentine’s Day, I have a blood test tomorrow and chemo on Wednesday.  I’ll update with some photos soon!
