15: Halfway Through Chemo!

2/27/06 So my temperature kept going up all day, by 4:00 it was 101 and I knew that I was going to have to take a trip to the ER.  I called my nurse who confirmed that I needed to go to the ER.  I called Travis who was still at work and as stubborn as I am, I told him I could go by myself.  I called my Mom and she was in Rutland, so I told her too that I could go by myself.  She said she was going to meet me there.  They were waiting for me at the hospital and immediately I had blood work, my numbers were all fine and then a chest x-ray.  The chest x-ray showed pneumonia.  They wanted me to stay overnight in the hospital but then decided that I could go home.  They gave me some strong antibiotics and sent me home.

2/28/06 I stayed home from school today.  We finally got cable so it wasn’t a bad thing to be home.  Mom came to check on me and pick up my prescription.  Good News I met my deductible for the pharmacy and it’s only February.  I ventured out of the house only to go to spaghetti night at Mom and Dad’s.

3/1/06 I went to school today and should have stayed home.  I really didn’t feel all that great.  I came home and took a nap.

3/2/06 I went to Burlington for chemo today.  They were not sure if I was going to get it because I’ve been sick.  But my white blood counts were up and I didn’t have a temperature so they gave it to me.  I am now half done!!!! I am done with the A/C which is suppose to be the strongest chemo that makes me the sickest.  In two weeks I will start the Taxol.  There are some side effects of that and chances of allergic reactions, but I am ready to move on!

3/5/06 I woke up today feeling good.  The three day “chemo hangover” is gone, one more day and  I will feel back to normal.  I am still loving the new house and we are settling in well.  I have been getting yummy meals from my great friends and Bristol Elementary and I so appreciate them.  Travis is glad that he doesn’t have to cook.  Thanks for everything!
