13. Alec & Purple Quilt & First Chemo
12/6/06  Well today was amazing - an absolutely lovely winters day its Queens birthday and we are of to see Arron play christian rep soccer @ morriset it was lovely sitting in the sun on this fine winters day. When we got home scotts phone had three missed calls - his dad Alec was dying - he had been reciting poetry before breakfast in the nursing home and then just went into unconcousness and was not doing so well.
Scott was waiting for his sister to pick him up when My sister Julie came over to see me. She had brought me a Quilt that my mum had made and julie helped her to finish it. It was absolutely the most beautiful thing, along with it came an embroidered letter from her  " To my dear daughter Jennifer - this quilt was made with just you in mind In 1995 the fabrics were gathered inspired by your love of the colour purple. Acolour of strenght and independence, special qualities that are you. Now in 2006 it has been finished. for you with all my love Mum". Blaaaaaa I howled like a blithering idiot and couldnt stop. I miss the conversational presence of my mum in my life especially now. Thanks Julie for making that happen your wonderful especially with all you do for mum.
Just as Julie left we got the call that Alec had passed so I cried just that little bit more.

Baby fudge & me night before chemo.
15/6/06 Its first Chemo Day - take my premed of Ondansetron to stop nausea etc, get to the clinic and wait, then have my drip put in, more medication dexamethasone to help prevent side effects, then the poison - epirubicen & cyclophosphamide. Scottie is so wonderful and supportive it takes about 3 hours and we are told to make sure that we look out for infections & to call if I get sick at all.
Went to westfield to get a blender so I can make smoothies & had wonton soup for lunch started to feel yucky so I went to bed to sleep. Still taking the ondansetron, but it didnt help I started to throw up at 4 and by about 6pm my stomach was turning inside out with gut wrenching contorsion - time to call the hospital.
Back I went - had the drip put back in and medicated with dex and ondancetron, - it worked wonders the overwhealming feeling of nausea went way. I slept and managed toast in the morning.
16/6/06 Alec's funeral today - scott went to laureton with arron and sarah, I was sad I couldn be there with him today - but he did a great job delivering his speech. Dr told me I had to stay another night so I did .
17/6/06 Scottie picked me up - and took me home the yucky feeling came with me - its great to be homw with my family. Poor laura she has night mares at the moment so scared she is she cant sleep (every time she closes her eye scary faces come into her mind) in her room and has to sleep in our room on a mattress on the floor. Lots of calls and texts from you all.
