19. Radiotherapy, Staging & Changing Oncologist

6/8/2006.
Well started the process for Radiotherapy last thursday. They call it staging - went in to a big room and laid on a bed that has special lights on it and it lines up your boob - the lovely nurses mark your skin to prepare for the tatooing.
The Radiologist comes in and checks what has been done and marks the area to be Zapped! Then the nurses then tatoo your boob in three spots, the tatoo looks like a little blue freckle no bigger than the top of a pin.
I was realy upset at the Idea of a tatoo when I eventually saw mine - I didnt mind at all.
Especially if it means that the radiotherapy will hit the same spot every time. I had to have a CT scan after that and it was all over. It took about 90min all up.
Made a decision to change my Oncologist who only works in the private hospital here & I found I didnt get along with her views on my care- I realised you have to be happy with the person who is looking after you & considering my negative experience with her Ill be happier with the new one.
I thought it the best decision and I know a lot of people in the public system & I know a lot of people there and I feel comfortable with them.
On a personal note my Niece Rebecca (16) & Nephew Jason (18) have come to live with us due to difficulties with their dad my brother.
So our house is full of lovely kids who are very special to me and will do their very best to support me through this journey called Life!
