18/8/2006 - Radiotherapy started this week and that was interesting. The staff and patients are all very kind & friendly.
The treatment is easy I get changed into a gown and then hop onto the bed put my arm up by my ear onto a support and then the staff get into action.
They rattle off a whole lot of numbers that are checked to my three tatoos to make sure I am in the right position on the table every day.
They chat like two pilots in a cock pit of a plane = moving the table up & down, left to right and the radiotherapy macine goes from left side of me to the right.
Preparation take's about 5 minutes and of they go to start the treatment which takes about 45 seconds from the left side and 45 seconds from the right side. It doesn't hurt at all.
Its that easy - Im in and out in 30 minutes. But have to be there every day monday - friday for the next 6 weeks.
The only drawbacks are: you will by about the 4-6th week have some skin burns on the area. Then theres the tiredness - thats what is getting me down at the moment - very tired. (little like having a newborn baby).
4/10/2006 Well radiotherapy has finished yeeehaaa can say Im not happy at all did a dance out of there today - bit like the toyota TV add - didnt get to badly burned at all just like Id been at the beach too long look really stupid at a nude beach with oneblack tanned boob! He He - the worst part is the tiredness and feeling like the treatment will never end.
