28: January 2007

1/24/07 So I am hearing that an update is needed.  Things are going well for me.  Both of my December check ups went well.  I am still seeing Dr. Unger every three months and am currently taking Tamoxifen daily.  I have not seen any side effects except my inability to lose weight.  Dr. Unger says it could be the tamoxifen or it just could be me.  I still struggle with that all the time.  I have been going to physical therapy for the past month.  I have lymphedema in my right breast where I had the lumpectomy.  Since I had the lymph nodes taken out, this is a common occurance.  I see the therapist and then have "exercises" and self massages to do at home.  Also Travis went one day and learned to give me a back massage in a way that will help move the fluid to the working lymph nodes.  I am going to get a new expensive (paid for by insurance) bra that should help with the lymphedema.  It makes Victorias Secret look cheap.

The wedding plans are coming slowly.  We have a reception date of November 3, 2007.  The actual wedding has not been determined yet.  We may just get married before somewhere privately.  I am going to a Bridal show this weekend with Beth, my mom and her mom, maybe I'll win something cool like a honeymoon.

My only other news is I am planning on going back to school in the fall for School Counseling.  I still need to fill out the applications, write the essay and figure out the finances.  I had started to do this back before I was diagnosed with cancer.
