PORTSMOUTH, NH — March 19, 2007 — BreastCancerStories.com received top honors for Best Public Service site at the NH Internet Awards (NHIA), March 15, at the Center of New Hampshire, Manchester, NH.  The award recognizes BreastCancerStories.com and its developer, Integrated Development Corporation of Greenland, NH, for creating a visually appealing and comforting environment for breast cancer patients to write, read and share their experiences online.

“This site provides a tasteful, comforting meeting place for people sharing the experience of battling against cancer,” said the NHIA judges.  “The Flash slide show on the home page establishes a human touch, rather than a clinical feel. The stories are easy to search by disease, treatment, medication, age or the geographical location of the author. The right side nav chapter organization of the stories makes them easy to navigate. The presentation is sensitive, avoiding the temptation to be melodramatic. Donor solicitation is present, but doesn't seem intrusive.”

“We are so excited to have been selected for this award,” said Wendy McCoole, Executive Director of BreastCancerStories.com.  “Working closely with Integrated Development Corporation, we wanted to create a supportive online atmosphere for breast cancer patients and their family members that would be easy-to-use, comforting and inviting.  Receiving this award is such an honor and further recognition that we have done just that.”

BreastCancerStories.com provides access to information and support 24/7 and gives patients a way to share their status with loved ones when it’s comfortable for them.  BreastCancerStories.com provides breast cancer patients with their own Web address where they can write and upload photos whenever they feel the need to write; friends and family members the ability to visit their website, follow their story and leave messages of support; and a mechanism for newly diagnosed patients to search through an index of those stories based on age, type of breast cancer and type of treatment, find someone similar to them, read their story, and not feel quite so alone.
