Here is my story. My name is Tina I am 38 and have been married for 15yrs. To my wonderful and very supportive husband Jon. We have 3 kids ages 16, 8 and 7.
I was diagnosed with Invasive Infiltrated Ductal Carcinoma February 2, 2007. At first I was thinking I am going to die and never see my kids grow up. I was real scared. Then I started doing research and talking to women who have survived and are going through the same thing that I am and my fears subsided. My faith in the Lord is getting me through this. I know I will be just fine.
So far I have had an MRI and a PET Scan. The MRI has show that my tumor is touching my pectoral muscle and the PET scan has shown there is no other signs of cancer in my body and the lymphnodes look fine. Pheww some good news!
My surgeon has given me two options at this point. 1. have surgery first in which case I have to have a full mastectomy, sentinal biopsy of all lymphnodes, if I choose reconstruction I wait 6wks for healing then 4-8 months of chemo followed by 6wks of radiation. 2. Chemo first 4-8 months to try and shrink tumor then lumpectomy or mastectomy, reconstruction then radiation. At this time I am opting for number 2.
I have my first oncology appointment on 2/20 and that will determine my real path. My head has been spinning with all the information and options I have been offered. Its starting to calm down now.
More of this adventure to come after next appointment!
